Become a Member

We’re excited that you or someone you love is interested in joining Eastside Village! As a member, you’ll make new friends, enjoy dozens of activities, give back to your community—and have fun! 

In addition, Village members and volunteers provide valuable help so you can stay active, independent, and engaged. Our volunteer services include:

• light home repairs
• light yard work
• light housekeeping
• paperwork management
• decluttering
• help with technology
• personal support
• friendly visits and check-in phone calls
• transportation to medical appointments and events
• … and so much more.

Also, our Rain or Shine Committee provides meals, friendly visits, loanable medical equipment, and other neighborly support to members who are recovering from illnesses, losses, or other challenges, to help speed their healing.

Our capable volunteers are members and nonmembers who have passed a background check. In addition, our drivers are trained to meet our members’ special needs.

Our volunteers are so important to us! Please understand that they can provide only occasional help, not ongoing or specialty care, and that we can’t offer medical, financial, or legal services. As a member, you’ll have access to Villages NW’s list of pre-screened and background-checked professionals who provide these services that are beyond our volunteers’ capabilities. 

 

MEMBERSHIP TYPES AND FEES

Our membership fees are based on the type of membership you pick, and if you’ll join as an individual or a household. You may pay your fees in one annual payment or 12 monthly automated withdrawals from a bank account.

Full-service Membership

This kind of membership appeals to people who want to receive hands-on services from our volunteers to help them live comfortably and safely in their homes as long as possible. 

Full-service members may:

• participate in all Village programs and events
• volunteer with Eastside Village
• receive up to three volunteer services (including rides) per week.

Full-service memberships are not tax deductible.

Membership Assistance

We offer scholarships to a limited number of income-qualified members for full-service memberships. To apply, please contact the office to receive the Eastside Village Membership Assistance Form.

 

Social Membership

Social members participate in all of our programs and events and may request up to three services per year. As a social member, you’ll also receive up to two weeks of services if you need them due to health issues. If you need services for longer than that, you may upgrade to a full-service membership on a pro-rated basis, and may revert to a social membership on your annual renewal date.

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER

Step 1: Download the online Membership Application Form, fill it out, print it and mail it to Eastside Village, 3915 SE Steele Street, 97202.  If you’d like us to mail you the form, please call our office at (503) 866-0571.

Step 2: Our office manager will contact you to answer your questions and make sure that we’re a good fit for you. 

Step 3: Sign the Membership Agreement and then pay for your membership. 

Step 4: The final step is a brief in-home interview by two of our established members. During the interview, they’ll answer your questions and introduce you to Village life. If you join, one of these members will be your “buddy” and will help you navigate the first month or two of your membership. This is a great way to welcome you to the Village!
